Business Process or Laboratory Services

According to Davenport (1993), business process is defined as follow :

“Measurable and structured activities to produce a spesific output for particular customers.”

Davenport (1993) furthermore stated that business process contains a strong emphasis on the notion of “how” can a work be carried out in an organization, unlike focus of product which focuses on the “what” aspect. A process is therefore a specific sequence of work activities across time and places, with a beginning and an ending, and is able to clearly define inputs and outputs.

In accordance with the statutes of BLU and also vision & mission of the Faculty & the Laboratory, main business (Core Business) of Anatomical Pathology Laboratory then is Academic Services that can be categorized into 3 specific services including :

1. Educational Services

These services include :

• Teaching services for Medicine undergraduate program (S1) : Lecture & Practice

• Teaching services for Dentistry undergraduate program (S1) : Lecture & Practice

• Teaching services for Nursing undergraduate program (S1) : Lecture & Practice

• Teaching services for Midwifery undergraduate program (S1) : Lecture & Practice

• Teaching services for Veterinary undergraduate program (S1) : Lecture & Practice

• Teaching services for Master in Biomedic program (S2): Lecture & Practice

• Teaching services for Specialist profession program : Lecture & Practice

2. Research Services, Scientific Development in the scope of Anatomical Pathology and Integrated Medicine, and also Expertise Consultation

These services include :

• Research services for undergraduate program students (Medicine, Dentistry, Midwifery, Nursing, Nutrition study program) :

Final project research preparation and writing consultation services, place for conducting anatomical pathology research, histopathological slide-making services, slides photo-taking services, slide-reading consultation services, DOT Slide image results analysis and interpretation consultation services.

• Research Services for postgraduate program students (Biomedic) :

Thesis consultation and guiding services, place for conducting anatomical pathology research, histopathological slide-making services, slides photo-taking services, slide-reading consultation services, DOT Slide image results analysis and interpretation consultation services.

• Research Support Services to the general (non-UB students):

Place for conducting anatomical pathology research, histopathological slide-making services, slides photo-taking services, slide-reading consultation services, DOT Slide image results analysis and interpretation consultation services.

3. Social Services (Community Services)

These services include :

• Community education services in the form of health promotion for Malang community
• Patient education services in collaboration with Saiful Anwar Hospital Anatomical Pathology Laboratory PKRS program
• Health worker (non-medical) training services in the village about neoplastic disease

All of these services is implemented through daily activities under the control of laboratory strategic and organizational management. Strategic management is a controller so that all of the services we provide can be run smoothly in accordance with the vision and mission that has been set, while organizational management is a management system that allows us to make decision and discretion because of the dynamics that occur in daily service activities which is adjusted with the staff and the administrative personnel job descriptions. Both management is run in conjunction with the institution’s internal quality management system through audit cycle both ISO 9001: 2008 as well as Primary Services Standards based SPMI.
