Brawijaya University is one of the universities obtaining A accreditation in 2014 from BAN PT, as well as Medical Study Program and Master Program of Biomedical Science Faculty of Medicine in 2014 and in 2016 obtained an A accreditation again from LAMPTKes. This achievement cannot be separated from the scientific publications of the lecturers and the increasing institutional cooperation year by year.
Scientific publication is certainly supported by the number of proposals funded by national and international grants every year. The significant increase in research proposals submitted to faculty, university and national grants is approximately 40% in 2017 compared with the previous year. There are many opportunities for submitting grant proposals internationally. However, the number of lecturers who successfully get international grant is still low and only a few of lecturers who know the information. Thus, Faculty of Medicine Brawijaya University through BPPM held mentoring workshop on international research grant proposal writing supported by World Class Professor RISTEKDIKTI program. The mentoring professor was Prof. Salvatore Di Somma, MD, PhD, of the Sapienza University of Rome Italy, San Andrea Hospital and Prof. Henry A Verbrugh, MD, PhD, of Erasmus University Netherlands.
The mentoring workshop on writing research proposal for international grant was held on 19, 20, and 26 October, 2017 at the 1st floor of Graha Medika, Faculty of Medicine. There were seven proposals submitted, almost all picked infection as the topic. The workshop participants were students of graduate program in biomedical science, post graduate program in medical science and some lecturers Faculty of Medicine Brawijaya University. This workshop also invited Nia Novita Wirawan, STP, MSc, a lecturer of nutrition science who often get international grant. On this chance, she shared her experience in getting international grant and tips to get it. Prof. Salvatore Di Somma also shared information on international research grant from Europe and the prioritized fields for getting the grants. This workshop is expected to increase the number of proposal submitted for international grant as well as international reputable journal publications in order to get the world’s best QS-WUR 500.
