9 Pharmacy Students Participated in the Outbound Student Program at UMS Malaysia

Sabah, Malaysia – A total of six students from the Pharmacy Study Program (PSF) and three students from the Profession Pharmacist Study Program (PSPA) of the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FMUB), had the opportunity to participate in a series of Outbound Student activities held from May 13 to June 24, 2024, in Sabah, Malaysia.

Dr. Apt. Valentina Yurina, S.Si., M.Si., Secretary of the Department of Pharmacy FMUB, stated that this activity is a form of collaboration between FMUB and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University Sabah Malaysia. During the program, the students engaged in various activities, including learning about the One Health topic.

Additionally, the students conducted health promotion activities on antimicrobial resistance and the proper methods of acquiring, using, storing, and disposing of medicines (DAGUSIBU). The learning activities took place at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), while the health promotion activities were conducted at Sikuati Health Clinic and Sumangkap Village, Kudat, Malaysia.

As part of the program, the students also had the opportunity to visit the UMS Health Center to learn about the regulations and pharmaceutical services at healthcare facilities in Malaysia.

This activity is expected to have a positive impact on the students, as it allows them to practice their knowledge and skills directly in community service activities (PKM) in Sabah, Malaysia. Additionally, through this program, the students participated in Inter-Professional Education (IPE) activities with medical students from Universiti Malaysia Sabah by conducting joint health promotion activities.
