Academic Senate of Universitas Brawijaya Holds Plenary Meeting to Discuss the Establishment of New Study Programs at the Faculty of Medicine

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a Plenary Session of the Academic Senate at the 2nd floor of the Graha Medika Building, Faculty of Medicine, attended by all members of the University Academic Senate. The meeting aimed to discuss considerations regarding the establishment of several new study programs within Universitas Brawijaya, particularly in the Faculty of Medicine.

The meeting was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc, who, in his opening remarks, stated that the establishment of new study programs is part of UB’s continuous effort to strengthen its contribution to education and healthcare services in Indonesia. The development of these new programs is a strategic step to meet the growing demand for medical professionals and academic experts. UB is committed to remaining a pioneer in enhancing the quality of medical education in Indonesia.

Following the Rector’s opening, the session was chaired by the Chairman of the Academic Senate, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani AR., M.S. During the meeting, the Senate conducted an in-depth discussion on the feasibility of establishing the new study programs and their potential academic and strategic impact on the university’s future development.

The six new study programs proposed to be established at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, include:

  1. Specialist Program in Family Medicine (Primary Care)
  2. Specialist Program in Psychiatry
  3. Subspecialist Program in Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy
  4. Subspecialist Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  5. Subspecialist Program in Pediatrics
  6. Subspecialist Program in Surgery

Through this discussion, it is expected that the process of establishing new study programs at the Faculty of Medicine UB will proceed more efficiently and effectively, supporting UB’s vision to become an internationally recognized leading university that actively contributes to national development through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

The meeting ran smoothly and productively, reflecting the strong commitment of all members of UB’s Academic Senate to continuously promote innovation and academic advancement for the progress of the institution and society at large.
