The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, has once again produced a new Doctor in the field of Medical Science. On Wednesday (October 29, 2025), Sri Dinengsih, S.SiT., Bdn., M.Kes. officially conducted her Doctoral Dissemination at the 6th Floor Auditorium, Building A, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FMUB). This event marked an important milestone for Sri Dinengsih as she presented her dissertation research entitled:
“The Effect of Gandarussa Leaf Extract on RANKL Levels, OPG Levels, and the Osteoclast/Osteoblast Ratio through the EGF/EGFR Signaling Pathway in Hypoestrogen Wistar Rats.”
In her presentation, Dr. Sri Dinengsih explained that the research focused on the effects of the bioactive compounds in gandarussa leaves on the balance of bone remodeling processes in hypoestrogen conditions — a state of decreased estrogen levels that commonly occurs during menopause. The study found that gandarussa leaf extract has the potential to modulate the EGF/EGFR signaling pathway, which plays a key role in regulating osteoblast and osteoclast activity. These findings provide a significant scientific contribution to the development of natural-based alternative therapies for preventing osteoporosis caused by estrogen deficiency.
The dissemination event not only showcased the research findings and future vision of the researcher but also concluded with the official conferment of the doctoral degree certificate by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Wisnu Barlianto, M.Si.Med., SpA.(K). In his remarks, Prof. Wisnu expressed his appreciation for Sri Dinengsih’s dedication and hard work in producing a high-value research contribution to the fields of medicine and public health.
With this achievement, Sri Dinengsih, S.SiT., Bdn., M.Kes. officially holds the title of Doctor (Dr.) from the Doctoral Program in Medical Science at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, further strengthening the ranks of academics and researchers contributing to the advancement of science and innovation in Indonesia’s natural-based health sector. Through this event, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, reaffirms its commitment as a higher education institution dedicated to producing excellent, high-integrity human resources who make real contributions to the development of medical science and technology in Indonesia.
