Malang, October 22, 2025 — The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FMUB), in collaboration with Universitas Brawijaya Hospital, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), UK, and Erasmus Medical Center, the Netherlands, organized an event entitled “International Community Services and Health Screening” in Kepanjen Village, Malang Regency. This activity is part of FMUB’s ongoing efforts to improve community health through its international-scale community engagement program.
Held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the event was led by Dr. Holipah, Ph.D., and served as a follow-up to the SmartHealth pilot program previously implemented in the same area. The program focused on public health screening, particularly in detecting and monitoring cardiovascular disease risks and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) among Kepanjen residents.
Through collaboration among academics, healthcare professionals, and international research institutions, this initiative not only aimed at providing community health examinations but also at strengthening local capacity in early detection of chronic diseases using technology-based and integrated health data approaches. During the event, a joint team from FMUB, UB Hospital, and international partners conducted comprehensive health screenings, including blood pressure measurement, blood glucose testing, lung function assessment, and lifestyle evaluation. In addition, health education sessions were provided on the prevention of non-communicable diseases and the importance of regular check-ups for high-risk individuals.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya reaffirms its commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the area of community service and improving public health quality through evidence-based and globally collaborative approaches.
