A total of 16 delegates from Faculty of Medicine University of Brawijaya participated in a scientific event held by Kelompok Ilmiah Hipocrates (KIH) Faculty of Medicine University of Udayana on February 11th-14th 2016. The sixteen delegates came from six branches of competitions which are literature review, research abstract competition, scientific poster, public poster, educational essay, and educational videos.
Scientific Atmosphere was opened on February 11, 2016 at 7 pm by the preceptor of KIH, dr. Pande Januraga representingthe Dean of the Faculty of Medicine University of Udayana, whom at the time was unable to attend due to his other scheduleinGalungan festival. In his opening remarks, dr. Pande Januraga presented some medical inventions that were discovered by medical students, such as heparin, catheters and more. Therefore, he hopedthat students who participate in this competition can look up to the student inventors in doing research and do not forget to publish their work. After that, the activities continued with the technical meeting. The event ended at 21.00 and continued with mobilization of participants to the hotel.
The second day is a day where all delegates present their work in front of the judges. The activities carried out in the lecture hall of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Udayana. In the first session (8 to 12 AM) the competition performed are literature review, educational essay, public poster and scientific poster, where the branches of the competition are literature review, Brawijaya delegation was represented by Krishna Rangga Permana and DeddyDwi Septian, while Elli Maulidya represented the essay education branch. And the poster contest branch was represented by Azka Qothrunnadaa and Petrisia Ristanti. Other branches of the race, the scientific poster, was represented by two groups. The first group consists of Ika Dewi Soraya, Rizkha Farida and Wahyu Dwi Nugroho. The second group consists of Yanti Marito Parhusip, Divayari Gardiani and Thoha Albaar Muhajir. In the second session (1 to 3 PM), there were the presentations of educational videos and reseach abstract competition, where the branch of educational videos was represented by Putu Ijiya Danta Awarata, Hasna Okta Asyrofi and Elsa Safira Chaerinnisa, and the last branch of competition is research abstract competition which is represented by Surya Iman Muhammad and Aulia Wahyu Indraswari. Each group was able to present their work well. In the evening, all delegates visitedsome tourist areas.
On the third day, the participants went on a city tour in the morning and a gala dinner in the evening. Delegates departed at 7 pm to reach the Balangan Beach. There, the delegation followed some watersport activities consisting of banana boat and snorkeling. Traveling to the island of turtles continued the activities. After that the delegates tidied upthemselves and got ready to go to a place of worship of five religions. There, delegates did their own religious activities and lunch. After that, the delegation returned to the hotel and got ready for the gala dinner. The participants attended a gala dinner starting at 19:00 to 22:00 pm. There, the participants ate dinner and mutual familiarizing themselves with each other. At the event there were Jegeg and Bagus SA award. Delegates of the UB, Deddy Dwi Septian, was elected as Bagus SA.
On the last day, all delegates attended a national seminar titled Holistic Care in Geriatric. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Udayana, opened the event. The event was followed by a keynote speaker by the director of University of Udayana Learning Hospital about An Overview of Geriatric and Health Care Service. Then, Udayana University rector, describing the treatment of type-2 diabetes mellitus for the elderly, followed the seminar. After that, the winners of educational videos, educational posters, and public essay were announced. Delegation of University of Brawijaya won the first place in the educational videos competition on behalf of Putu Ijiya Danta Awarata. Furthermore, the event continued with a seminar hosted by Dr. dr. A Laksmidewi, Sp.S (K) on neurobehaviour in geriatrics. The last session was continued by I Gede Putu Darma Suyasa, SKp, Mng, PhD with the material on geriatric care. Presented at the end of the event the winners of the scientific poster, literature review and research abstract competition. Delegations from University of Brawijaya successfully achieved the second place of the scientific poster on behalf of Ika Dewi Soraya and the third place in literature review on behalf of Krishna Rangga Permana.
According to one delegate from the UB, namely Putu Ijiya, Scientific Atmosphere activities were packed interestingly though it was scientific activities. Putu Ijiya also felt proud of the achievement of the UB delegation, although they were still not able to achieve the overall winner. He hopedthat with more preparation, delegates from UB will be able to get better results next year. (Public Relations Officer Medical of Faculty Brawijaya University)
