Rector of Universitas Brawijaya to Open Dwija Monabrata Pratistha Monument, Nuursy Syifa Mosque, RIPPI and FMUB Physiology Lab

Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani, A.R., M.S., and the dean of FMUB, Dr. dr. Wisnu Barlianto, SpA,(K), M.Si, Med. officially open the Dwija Monabrata Pratistha monument, Friday (7/1/2021). The monument was built to tribute to the deceased used as a cadaver for FMUB students.

“A doctor must know the real anatomy of the human body because it cannot just study books,” said dr. Wisnu Barlianto. He added, “Dwija Monabrata Pratistha means Teacher Who Lives Silently. So even though they are corpses, they have given knowledge to our students, so we call them teachers who live in silence,” he said.

Dwija Monabrata Pratistha Monument is placed in UB’s cemetery complex in Karang Ploso, Malang Regency. Besides the monument, FMUB also buried the bodies at that location.

“The cadavers are not trash or anything else. They are corpses, so we carry out the funeral process according to the  religion. We bury them in UB’s cemetery complex,” he said.

In addition to the Dwija Monabrata Pratistha Monument, the Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine also opened the Nuursy Syifa Mosque and the Research Innovation Room for Public Service and Publication Information (RIIPI) as well as the Laboratory and Department of Physiology.

“The Nuursy Syifa Mosque means healing light. We hope that FMUB graduates can become health workers in helping patients heal. In addition, it is hoped that through the construction of this mosque, the FMUB academic community will always be healthy not only physically but also spiritually,” said dr. Vishnu.

In line with the Dean of FMUB, the Rector added that the mosque is a place of worship and develops knowledge related to religion.

“Hopefully, with the inauguration of the mosque in collaboration with the inauguration of the lab, the interests of religion and science can be married so that it can become very good,” he said (LH)
