On Sunday, August 8, 2021, the Department of Anatomy-Histology, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Brawijaya (FMUB) carried out community service through a brave seminar for the general public entitled “Fit during the Pandemy, Free of Dyslipidemia”. This seminar specifically discussed the topic of Dyslipidemia, related to the many cases in the community that are closely related to it. Dyslipidemia is a condition in someone who has high levels of fat in their blood, one of which is a bad cholesterol (LDL) profile of more than 100 mg/dL. Dyslipidemia conditions often do not cause symptoms in sufferers, but this can trigger the occurrence of some more severe diseases in the future, such as coronary heart disease and stroke.
At the community service activity, the event began with a welcome speech by the Chief Executive of Community Service, namely Wike Astrid Cahayani, S.Ked. M.Biomed. Afterward, the seminar material is delivered by three speakers who are capable in their respective fields. The first material was presented by dr. Onggung M.H. Napitupulu, M.Kes., DAAK., entitled Healthy Tactics Between Fats and Carbohydrates. This material focused on the relationship of intake or nutritional patterns to the occurrence, and somatotypes or changes in the shape of the human body that are affected by diet and age factors. The second material was presented by dr. Fajar Hadi Wijayanto, Sp.PD., entitled Knowing Dyslipidemia or High Cholesterol Disease. This material discussed the definition, causes, risk factors, and the management given to dyslipidemia conditions. The third material is about sports, namely Becoming a “PELAKOR (ID: Pelaku Olah Raga, EN: Sports Person)” Healthy Tips During a Pandemic by dr. Danik Agustin Purwantiningrum, M.Kes. This last material contains related differences in physical activity and sports, tips about being good, correct, and appropriate in exercise, especially for dyslipidemia conditions, as well as how to prevent injury during exercise. The seminar was then closed with a panel discussion with the three presenters and dr. Nurul Hidayati, M.Sc., Sp.DLP as moderator discussed several questions from the participants.
This community service activity was attended by around 45 participants from various regions in Indonesia, and some from Timor Leste. In general, from the results of the participant satisfaction questionnaire that we obtained, the participants were very satisfied with the material and the speaker’s performance and hoped that this kind of event could be held continuously in the future.
