Based on data from the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Indonesia as of May 17, 2022, which states there are as many as 14 suspected cases of Hepatitis spread across several provinces in Indonesia, Malang as the second-largest city in East Java province also needs to be aware of similar cases.

Although there have been no cases of Hepatitis in Malang City until now, vigilance needs to be increased. Malang City has been holding Face-to-face Meetings (PTM) for learning in schools since January. Therefore, the Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences (DPMS) FMUB carried out Community Service with the title “Improvement of Clean and Healthy Life Behaviors to Beware of Unknown Hepatitis and Other Infectious Diseases through Fun Education” which was held at SDN Sumbersari 2 Malang City, on 13-18 June 2022.

This activity aimed to increase knowledge, awareness, and behavior regarding clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) through a fun educational method or “Fun Education”. SDN Sumbersari 2 Malang City was chosen as the place for this public service activity because it has a high incidence of infectious diseases, especially Hepatitis cases with its location in a densely populated area. In addition, the school is also very enthusiastic in welcoming this activity, as a form of effort to increase readiness to face infectious diseases such as Hepatitis and COVID-19. It is hoped that this community service activity could encourage awareness and increase efforts to prevent Hepatitis and other infectious diseases.

This series of community services activities are packaged in the form of Focus Group Discussions with teachers, fun education in each class, distribution of healthy snacks and PHBS support tools as well as the submission of posters and flip charts from DPMS as souvenirs.

Present on the occasion, Prof. Dr. dr Loeki Enggar Fitri, M. Kes., Sp.ParK (KPS PSDIK), Dr. LIlik Zuhriyah, S.K.M., M. Kes., (Chairman), with the speakers including Dr. dr.
