On June 5, 2021, LAURA Study Group– LPPM UB – Kupu Parahita Foundation has collaborated with the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Brawijaya. An online Community Service Program with the topic “Treat to target Approach” as a therapeutic strategy and fundamental treatment in Autoimmune to the general public, particularly for autoimmune and rheumatic patients across the country, has been successfully organized.
According to Chief executive, Prof Dr.dr. Kusworini, M.Kes, SpPK, this community services program is the series of “Doctoral Program Service” collaborations of Lupus, Autoimmune, Rheumatic, and Allergy (LAURA) Study Group with Faculty of Medicine Universitas Brawijaya (FKUB), Dr. Saiful Anwar General Hospital in Malang, Association of Indonesian Rheumatology, and Indonesian Rheumatology Association held a seminar about Vaccination Knowledge and the Importance of COVID Vaccination for autoimmune and allergy patients. Hopefully, this event will give us many benefits.
According to Professor Kusworini, a doctoral service program requires solid collaboration with many partners. The target of this program is patients and patients’ families under the Kupu Parahita Foundation, which has over 300 members. The community service program covers fundraising and treatment training for Lupus patients, assistance, and knowledge comprehension for patients’ families. In addition, the program also encourages vaccine safety for patients since it is currently in the COVID Pandemic. “It will help boost the immune system of lupus patients having abnormalities and lupus disease may relapse, and becoming more severe if exposed to COVID. We also assist when patients receive vaccination,” she added.
Our target is not only patients but also their families. Thus, there will be no perplexity in the patient’s treatment. Treat to target training is expected to make patients understand and know the treatment strategy, planning the treatment in the long term. Therefore, it will alleviate the tediousness impact of taking medicine in lifetimes.
In this event, the participants learned how to plan for lupus and RA treatment. It may be tough to recover from the disease, but I will reduce the impact of relapse caused by the COVID Pandemic. The doctoral service program lasts roughly six months, from June to November 2021, for approximately a year (divided into four online seminar activities on June 5, an online seminar on June 12, Talk-show on August 21, and the second talk show on August 28, 2021).
Dr.dr.Wisnu Barlianto, MSi.Med, SpA (K) also presented “The Importance of COVID Vaccination for Autoimmune Patient” and dr. Perdana Aditya Rahman, SpPD delivered about “COVID Vaccination for Autoimmune Patient. Is it safe?”
To make the activities more applicable, the LAURA center Study hosted a talk show on the 21st and 28th August 2021, in which Prof. Dr. dr Handono Kalim Sp.PD-KR presented. Participants had the opportunity to consult with a doctor specializing in autoimmune, rheumatic, and allergy diseases.
Furthermore, the LAURA Center Study and the Kupu Parahita Foundation issued three pocketbooks, “Rheumatoid Arthritis and Allergies for Kids and Adults,” that are both practical and comprehensive. By reading these pocketbooks, autoimmune, allergy, and rheumatic disease sufferers can better understand their condition and apply the target in their treatment. (P.R FMUB)
