As one of the major higher education institutions in Indonesia, Universitas Brawijaya has a number of leading programs and exemplary achievements. Despite this positive condition, it is a good idea to seek a new reference or inputs that may be obtained from observing more closely and learning from the quality and quantity of management of other campuses.
It needs a cooperation or collaboration to implement the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education); Education, Research and Community Service, that is useful to add positive impact and be applicable in UB.
Faculty of Medicine (FM) Uiversitas Mataram (Unram) as one of the campuses of Medical Education in the East region of Indonesia was selected by FMUB to collaborate especially in the case of studies on tropical diseases and infectious diseases.
Therefore, in order to improve the capacity as an education provider in Medical and Health Sciences, Academics of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Brawijaya (FKUB) conducted a series of working visits and comparative studies to the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Mataram (Unram), Mataram Lombok – NTB on Thursday , (13/4/17).
The FMUB group was officially accepted by the Dean of FM-Unram dr. Hamsu Kadriyan, Sp.THT-KL, M.Kes, Vice Dean II of FM Unram, Head of Administration and a number of staffs of FM Unram.
The FMUB visit this time was represented by 18 persons consisting of; Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Head of Administration Affairs, Head of Academic Affairs, Head of Student Affairs, Administrative Staffs (Student Staffs, Personnel and Finance Staffs, Academic Staffs, Laboratory staffs, Public Relations, Procurement, Mailing) and some other Administration staffs at FMUB.
Dr. Dr. Wisnu Barlianto, M.Si, Med., SpA (K) as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FMUB, in his speech elaborated the intent and purpose of his arrival with the delegates of FMUB to FM Unram, saying essentially we would like to learn together and to probe cooperation in terms of realizing the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.
We chose FM Unram, that is a large campus in Eastern Indonesia, because it has great potential to build a cooperation in a number of aspects such as Education, Community Service and Research, specifically in research on tropical diseases and infectious diseases. In addition, we also want to learn many things from what has been done by FM Unram in management, the process of organizing education and its solution in overcoming various problems. Indeed we want to expand our horizon because each college is different in terms of the management system, “said the pediatrician.
In response, the Dean FM Unram dr. Hamsu Kadriyan, Sp.THT-KL, M.Kes welcomed the arrival of the delegates. It is an honor for us to be visited by FMUB because FM Unram is a newly established campus (in 2003) and is relatively young, compared to FKUB which is an established medical education.
We are happy to share our knowledge with FKUB. As we can see this is our campus, but hopefully with this visit we hope this cooperation and warm relationship will continue to flourish.
Furthermore, he added, our first students are still limited. Our campus was first started from a study program under the Rector’s Decree, and it was just in 2010 it became the Faculty of Medicine, University of Mataram. Currently we still have one course of study that is medical education, we hope in the future there will be more study programs.
In addition to medical education we also hope there will be new programs such as Specialist, Nursing and other health sciences. We will study the Ministerial regulations, owing to the fact that the old courses must be accredited first.
It is almost certain that to establish a medical education program in a Faculty of Medicine requires a process and has many challenges. And we are very grateful that Deanery of FMUB has been willing to cooperate (with us) and established good communication. We are also grateful that some time ago FMUB has also sent a Team from the Quality Assurance on the management education that we need in managing and preparing accreditation at FM Unram.
We have 96 staff, 1 professor, 9 doctors and some teaching staff who are still persuing education to support our Education.
In addition to visiting FK Unram Sivitas Academika took the opportunity to visit the historic places and recreation areas in the areas of Lombok NTB, where they also planned to do some refreshing activities as well as introduce the meaning of cohesiveness and strengthening cooperation or human resources team work in management.
